Help on Bison update & missing drivers (webcam&Audio)

Postby msdelr » Tue Jan 06, 2009 4:32 am

s10/Lenovo guys,
Please help!
Newbie with Lenovo:)
i jz bought this s10 with Windows XP Home preinstalled on it (160gb, 6cell battery, etc.). After logging in, we tried opening the camera but the camera wont work... same when we tried playing the beethoven music on the media player - "No audio device installed!"
Before posting this query i tried searching the Lenovo website for possible links related to this problem. I was correct and indeed theres a Bison update tool on the lenovo website saying that this solves the problem. Apparently the built in camera has a conflict with Windows XP. I tried installing the Bison update - it still didnt work! hmm... i was able to download the Bison software... double clicked the exe file... restarted it ...still the camera wont work when you press the camera hot key function. Any suggestions?

As for the audio driver. I checked the device manager. The audio driver installed are all bluetooth related drivers in my audio. I tried downloading the realtek audio driver... i was able to execute the file, restarted the notebook, still no sound. I checked the audio properties in the control menu - its blank!
Hmmm is there a proper way of downloading drivers?:) hehe perhaps its on how i installed it? i jz dowloaded it and clicked the exe file the restarted the pc. - for Bison and other drivers?
I hope u can help. Please:)
Tnx!!!!
-Mike

Have you tried pressing Fn Esc to turn on the camera?

Guys,
My notebook got eventually repaired. I returned the S10 to the shop where i bought it for troubleshooting. Somehow the webcam is now working and my media player is also working. They just reinstalled some drivers.. it took them around 20 mins to figure it out. im not sure what they did. I initially thought it was a hardware issue. Thank goodness it was just some software glitch.
Goodluck on ur troubleshooting. Sorry im not that techie to explain what they did to my s10. They did not explain what they did:)

Hmm. I guess I'll have to go to the service center too. What about a re-install of windows? My sound also seems to give problems at times.

Unless I'm mistaken, XP comes with a compatible driver. My fresh XP Pro SP3 install recognized it out of the box, unless the driver was rolled in with some other driver package and I didn't realize it.

Yes i do recall it being installed when i got it but i normally format the preloaded Windows & install a fresh copy. Only driver i cannot get is the camera. Search lenovo website but still can't get it.

Anybody?

I have a feeling it's a generic USB Camera device. :(
