Counter Strike Optimization - Smoother Play?

Postby Weenee » Fri Dec 26, 2008 2:22 pm

I was wondering if you guys know how to optimize Counter Strike 1.6 to be able to play smoothly on the little lenovo. Currently the game is playable, but it lags, especially in deathmatch which is all i play. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Maybe later this year we sell netbooks that could. Until then...the saga continues....

The problem is the speed of the built in video. google for how to make cs 1.6 work well with a gma950 - there are articles on the net that can help with this.
revision 3 - check out their systm and tekzilla shows!

There are a few advanced driver optimization settings in the GMA control panel for 3D settings, it does improve 3D a bit, not sure if it'll give you what you want though

Add more memory, then use the Reset BIOS trick to get 128MB of video memory may help with Counter Strike. You can never have too much video memory. :)

Press 'F2' when the system first boots, then press the right arrow key until you see the page that lets you Save and Exit the BIOS. There's an option on that page that lets you load default settings. Select it, then save and reboot. The S10 will now use 128MB max video memory instead of 64MB.

You can check you maximum video memory before and after by right clicking on the desktop and selecting Video Options or Graphics Options. There is an information button that shows your maximum video memory.

Thanks go to B.F.Dragon for discovering this. :)

If you took a bit of time to explore the hardware section of this board, you will notice that 1) the S10 CAN take a 4gb chip.... however the Intel 945GSE chipset (which is found in the S10) can only access 2gb. 2) Several people have purchased the Lenovo 6-cell battery only to find that it's the same capacity/quality as the ebay/chinese 6-cell battery.
