Touchpad: Vertical Movement Too Fast

Postby Stoic » Thu Nov 13, 2008 12:14 am

My touchpad is too sensitive/moves too fast vertically under both Ubuntu 8.04 and 8.10, as well as BT3.

Is your touchpad working properly with Linux, or am I the only one experiencing this irritation?

Experiencing the same exact problems... Trackpad's Y-Axis seems to be extra sensitive. Ill post if I find a solution.
Also, my s10 is running a little hot, is there anyway to control the fan? It seems as though the fan goes on for less than a second at a time. I am using Ubuntu 8.10.

It looks like this is a common problem in many netbooks. People are complaining about it in ubuntu forums. There's an open bug and some suggested source code patches:

http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=939165
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=18351

I would expect this to be rolled into an Xorg update in the future...

I have a S9, installed Ubuntu 8.1 today and for my surprise touchpad doesn't work at all. It was working when I tested before installation (with the live CD in the USB drive) so I'm sure I'll get it working eventually. With Ubuntu 8.04 wifi didn't work.

Wifi and touchpad both worked with no changes in Ubunto 8.04 on my S10 ... :?:
Black (160 GB HD) and Ruby Red (80 GB HD)
Added 2 GB memory and bluetooth (hellowifi) to both of them ...
Running quickstart 1.0.16.3 on both ... (thanks lightxspeed)

I experienced the exact same problem with the mouse moving way to fast/sensitive.

I solved the problem by clicking on system then preferences, then mouse

and in then you can change the sensitivity of the mouse. And now my mouse sensitivity is working correctly.

Hi, I've compiled a modified version of the Synaptics driver with a 0.6 scale factor on the Y axis. Here's a link to my blog post that gives a download link and instructions:
