S10 Laptop Case?

Postby SystemJinx » Fri Sep 05, 2008 2:53 pm

Anyone know of a good laptop bag/case that could be used for the Lenovo S10? I know there aren't any accessories officially out for this netbook yet, but maybe some of you could share how you are going to carry your netbook when you get it. I could use the ideas. ;)

Mine's going in my camera bag. My current laptop just barely doesn't fit in the front pocket but this should slide right in.

For carrying just the S10 and its power brick: Case Logic has a nice 10" DVD player case. Black with carrying handles. The link isn't pasting. I've been doing a mega backup job, so can't reboot right now.

To carry it around with my small camera (Pany TZ5), iPAQ 211 and other stuff, mine's going in my purse! I got a nice Stone Mountain Cassidy cross body hobo bag that will hold everything without being too huge.

I think WindeeS10 was referring to:

Another Caselogic option is a neoprene case:

http://www.caselogic.com/neoprene_dvd_p ... lid=105110

which fits the S10 more snugly, and can be slipped into a backpack.

I use these for all my laptops. I have yet to find a better case. Shinza are best for making any bag into a laptop bag. They are small and extremely effective, you can just slide the laptop into any backpack or bag and its totally safe. I have over 5 of them for various electronics and would never go back. the netbook one is not yet available, but should be soon. a guy from texas sells them cheap on ebay. look for zeroshock III.

Yes, the first one is the one I meant. It has carrying handles and zippered pocket for a (very) few accessories. Good if you wanted to take just that.

The S10 measures Dimensions: 9.8″ x 7.2″ x 1.08″ and the 2nd case measures

outside: 11" x 8" x 1.25"
Internal Dimensions: 10.25" x 7" x 1.25"

The S10 is ever so slightly wider - 7.2 inches. However, I'm sure there will be enough give in the neoprene for it to fit.

Just had another thought. The Wind and eee PCs come with cases. It's *possible* that Lenovo will provide us one, too. There's been no mention of it, though. But information from them has been really sparse, as we all know. They won't even state the specs of our model of the S10 for sure.

I'm tempted by the Case Logic neoprene case. I'd been put off the dimensions before, but I was measuring that case for the Wind, which is slightly larger.

I will use a regular notebook bag. Most of the time it will be concealed in a backpack, inside a smaller soft neoprene bag or hard aluminum case, or disguised as a text book or something else.

I am liking that Case Logic case. The red interior is cool. Kind of wish the outside were red as well. It would better match the Lenovo. ;)

I hope the S10 comes with at least a basic case, though -- the EeePC cases, although lacking in shock protection, provide decent scratch protection when tossing it in a bag...
