Software Update

Postby danamkaplan » Mon May 31, 2010 9:11 pm

Hey, I have put a lot of effort already searching the forums and the internet in general so I would appreciate not getting yelled at for this.

I have an original S10. I installed 10.6.0 back in October with whatever the most current Snow Leopard Enabler was. I upgraded to 10.6.1 with no problem. It was working great and still is. When Apple updated to 10.6.2 and cut off Atom support, I didn't update. I have not updated since out of fear.

What I am looking for is a direct guide to update my current working 10.6.1 to 10.6.3 without bricking my system. How?

Is there a way to do this with just my S10 and a usb drive? Can I update normally without any tinkering?

On another note, anyone running 10.6.3 and able to use JAVA in the newest Chrome? I heard reports that the OSX Chrome finally supports it and I would love to not use Safari or Firefox to watch ninjavideo.

Thanks in advance S10 community!

Alright.

So I think the idea is to run the newest version of enabler again. Again, how?

Do I just run enabler and target my OSX hard drive? Do I make an 8g drive into a vanilla 10.6 disc, and then run enabler on that and boot from it?

I know this is a very simple answer, can someone reply?

I believe that is the way to go. run the most current enabler. But if you check on the enabler thread it should say how to update the enabler versions.

Yes, it worked fine.

Ran enabler targeting my OSX drive, rebooted, updated to 10.6.3, rebooted, and now I'm typing this on my s10!

So what confused me I think is that you apply enabler to your installation drive but you can also install it to your OS drive too. Maybe that was clear and I'm just an idiot.
