that looks quite interesting... I have to take a detailed look at the screen of my S10-2, maybe there's also a replacement. If I understand right: To enter the BIOS you have to connect an external monitor?

Yep, that's right.

I'm not certain that it will work for other s10s. I've only had the one machine to test on.

So, you are saying that once installed I would lose chameleon boot screen and my triple boot configuration?

Sorry, got ahead of my self I see that you just lose the display of your boot screen but can still triple boot.

So I am guessing my S10-4231 (NOT an S10e) will work with the LP101WH1(TL)(B1)? Or should I look for a 10.2" screen, since it has a 10.2" now?

Anyone want to do a writeup, at least of any potential gotchas?

Not sure what an LVDS cable is or if I will need to change that)

I just did this mod on my S10e and it works really good.
LP101WH1-TL-B1 , There are several of these on ebay and some even comes with adapter to move the connector to the other side.

I am currently looking into the bios to see if we can change the display setup directly in the bios.
I have found the Phoenix Bios tool and have dissasembled the latest bios to see if I can stumble upon display parameters there.
I do not believe the lcd setup is in display.rom file so I am just playing around at the moment.
If anyone else knows anything about how the bios sets up the lcd please tell !

Been checking more now.
The lcd setup is in the DISPLAY00.ROM file in bios. I have extracted the rom from bios using the
Phoenix_Mod_Tool_1.42 tool.

I am now trying to get the bios dissasembled using the Binary Modification Program from Intel.
That is the tool that edits vbios (display bios).
I am also trying to get build the vbios from scratch using IEGD tool from Intel. This is the embedded video rom creation tool from Intel. Just have to figure out watcom first !
