My new S10 has no internal RAM and isn't on product sheet

Postby IvanX » Sat May 30, 2009 10:12 am

I just got a new S10 from Amazon with the product number 4231BDU, which is not on the March 2009 product sheet linked on Lenovo's web site. It was manufactured 3-Apr-09. It's red, 160 GB HD, 1 MB RAM, 3-cell battery. (I would have expected that to be the 4321ABU instead, according to the product sheet.) One thing that's interesting about this one is that it apparently has no internal RAM. It came with a 1 GB module, and won't start up at all without it. Mac OS X reports that the other "slot" is empty. Has anyone else seen this?

My black S10 (4231-AGU) came with just the 1gb stick and no onboard RAM. I got it in April as well, but it's a 6-cell.

i got my s10 on friday which i ordered from lenovo website. today i was installing a 2GB RAM which i just got.. my s10 doesn't have on board memory. the RAM stick that was in there is 1GB. Also, my netbook came with built in bluetooth which wasn't mentioned on the specs when i bought it (as far as i know, the US models don't have build in bluetooth).
Anyway, im very pleased with what i 've got.

The same issue in my case. I had to call lenovos client service to learn what exactly machine I had bought. It is s10 with bluetooth, produced in February and 512 is soldered into motherboard.

I got a S10 in December '08 and it came with build in 512MB & a stick of 512MB Ram. The screen size is 10.2" with resolution of 1024 x 600. Remove the 512MB & put in the 2GB and now i have 2.5GB....which is great. No complains

I got another s10 in April '09 and it came with a stick of 1GB. The screen size if i'm not mistaken is 10.1" with a resolution of 1024 x 576.

Question: For those who just got the S10 WITHOUT the build in 512MB, what is your screen resolution and what OS are you using?? Appreciate if someone can check this & update this thread cos i'm planing to get another S10 but if the maximum resolution is only 1024 x 576, i may not get it.

So does the new S10 comes with 10.1" screen of 1024 x 576 resolution?

Just got my Lenovo S10 direct from them last week, it came w/ 1gb stick and no on-board ram. Running latest build of Win 7 and resolution is 1024 x 600.

Thanx for the info.

Funny cos the last one i saw in a shop that had WinXP only had a resolution of 1024 x 576.

Any views on this?

not sure, as I thought only the S10e's had a resolution of 1024x576. I booted into Win XP once before installing Win 7, and I remember checking and it was set at 1024x600. Maybe check the video drivers and update them?

I believe before the S10-2 was launched, there was a version called S10g for a short while in the Asia/Pacific market. This had a glossy screen with a resolution of 1024x576 and probably g=glossy. Don't know why Lenovo did that as if there is not enough confusion already.
