I got my S10-3 around mid-May, and love this netbook. However, like the majority of you, I hated the touchpad . The problems are:
- sometimes too sensitive, and gets too jumpy.
- sometimes not sensitive enough, doesn't re-act when I to soft tap or drag.
- the left/right click buttons are too stiff, need to put some efforts to actually click it.
After 2 months of using, I kinda gave up on the touchpad and have been using an external mouse instead. Last week, my wife got an new Android phone, and while we were putting on the screen protecting film, it gave me an idea, if an additional film is on the touchpad , would the film help deliver the finger contacts to the touchpad better?
Well, since we have an extra film, I measured it, trimmed it, and put it on. The result is overwhelming, because the film surface is glossy, it is more "sticky" to the finger, and the finger gets more feedbacks from this "sticky" feeling, hence better controls. The touchpad is also more responsive to the fingers now, it doesn't jump around, and I am getting much higher accuracy on tapping, scrolling, dragging. The film doesn't help the stiff clicks, but I configured the mouse settings so both left and right clicks are now soft clicks, so hopefully I never have to do any clicking. (or util warranty expires and i find a way to disassemble the pad and replace the buttons with something less stiff.)
I can't say the touchpad is perfect now, but the film definitely helped a lot. Hope it helps you guys too.
