Broadcom BCM70012 Crystal HD and the S10-3t

Postby GendoIkari » Fri Apr 09, 2010 4:57 pm

Since a lot of people have been wondering about this and some have tried even modding their cases (Dedication!) to get this card in the half size slot I wanted to post a copy of the Bios that has the Vendor and Device Ids for this card in its whitelist. The value of one of the TV cards 1131 7231 has been replaced with the Crystal HD values 14e4 1612 so if you use that TV card do not use this bios. Please only use this bios if you know what you are doing and I take no responsibility for anything that can go wrong during the flashing process. Good Luck!

well,
I can confirm that it's working fine!
I loaded the hacked bios and the card is recognized after booting.

Great job! This would have been useful for me about a month ago. Unfortunately, I've gotten rid of my S10-3t. :(

If this solution would have come earlier, would you have kept the s10-3t?

Unfortauntely, I'm having the hang on boot problem that was seen on the other forum. Does anyone have advice? If I disable the broadcom card in device manager it boots. If I enable it, it doesn't.

Ah-ha. Something related. I have Win 7 Home Premium installed. I have the BIOS updated to support the broadcom crystalhd accelerator to work in the full sized PCIe slot.

If I have the Broadcom enabled in device manager and restart the computer, the computer hangs on a black screen after the initial windows logo. If I disable the broadcom, then it boots fine but no accelerator (as expected).

if I boot while it is disabled then later enable the Broadcom, then the Lenovo S10-3t touchscreen is disabled. I loose the touchscreen capabilities. Yet, I do get acceleration.

It seems that I can't have the touchscreen and the broadcom enabled at the same time. In addition, if both are enabled at boot, Windows won't start. This problem may be worse than Windows 7 Home Starter since Home Premium has full touchscreen capabilities.

Ideas?

I can't say for sure but possibly. I really liked the S10-3t but just couldn't justify the $450 price. It's not that I felt it was expensive but I absolutely had no use for the touchscreen. It is fun and nice to have though.

win 7 Home Premium w/ current windows updates
Azuwave card from logic supply
broadcom 32-bit driver 3.3.0 from the broadcom site
Lenovo S10-3t touchscreen with the 24CN20WW bios modified to whitelist the broadcom card. I used the BIOS that GendoIkari made that whitelisted it.
