I am having an issue with the GUID partition. I have my Windows 7 partition and my OSX partition. But it won't let me install on my OSX (HFS Journaled) partition because it needs to be GUID. It also won't let me change the OSX partition because I'm using MBR. Do I have to re-partition the whole HDD, or is there a way around this?

My Mac Mini only has a Combo Drive in it (Writes CDs only). I do however have a PC that has a DVD burner. Is there any way to execute step #1 with said setup?

you can use transmac to burn the dmg from windows. or you can use toast or burn to create an iso or cue/bin and transfer this image to your pc for burning.

To create a USB install medium:

A. From NetbookBootMaker instructions, 2 steps:
1. On a working OS X computer with DVD drive, write the SL DVD as a .dmg image with Disk Utility
(Click on 'New Image', select 'Mac OS X Install' as source)

2. Format a USB thumb drive (> 10GB) under GUID as Mac Journaled format. Restore the .dmg to this drive. Check off Erase destination (it writes faster).

B. From Enabler instruction:
Restore Snow Leopard DVD to USB installation medium.

what is the difference between the above 2 methods? Do they have the same outcome usb stick/medium? The NetbookBootMaker took twice as much of time to prepare than Enabler did. I am learning Mac OS. Thanks.

Both methods are just different routes to the same end result - a bootable USB version of the Snow Leopard installation DVD. The NetbookBootMaker automates the process by restoring the DVD to a USB key and patching it for PC installation, all at once (basically it installs the NetbookInstaller onto the USB key, which is basically another way of doing what the Enabler does). For the Enabler, you restore the DVD to USB, then run the Enabler on the USB key, which makes it bootable and patches the install during installation.

At that point, both methods give you a bootable install USB that automatically patches your installation, though they both have their quirks and specific aims. I just did an install today using the latest Enabler and there are several problems (audio, for one). I'm going to compare it side-by-side with the NetbookInstaller version to see which is cleaner and more complete in the next couple of days. The good news is I can do it all from Windows quite easily.

7. Currently, the /Extra folder is hidden. I unhid it in the following way -

to get ShowAllFiles.app under /Utilities
Run ShowAllFiles (select SHOW).

I created a new folder named /Extra on my desktop, then copy all content from the hidden /Extra folder to the new (visible) /Extra folder. Finally, delete the hidden folder and copy the new one over. Restart to verify that everything works.
