back in time to the late 90's when packard's flourished in the american home. now back again to toss in a netbook, maybe even to slap lenovo in the face and release it first. that would hurt, alot.

That's a good looking little machine. Of course I'm sure it's a doctored up Photoshop image, so real world models may not look as nice.

I'm still waiting for a Commodore netbook.

Packard Bell stopped selling machines in the US years ago, but remained a familiar brand in Europe. NEC bought them, then Acer. (And Gateway is also connected somehow?) So this machine probably has quite a lot in common with the Aspire One. I think this netbook is the first computer they're selling in North America in a very long time.

Short graphic design rant: PB's old-old logo was gorgeous (the 1920's one... I love old type) and I wish they'd go back to it. I guess the current one is better than the previous "some lines coming out of a guy's head" design, but it doesn't make me that interested in their computers...

Wait, did Acer buy NEC or PB from NEC? >_O I'm still confuzzled about Compaq being bought by HP!

Gateway is somehow related to everything. I don't know why, but I've always equated Gateway (and compaq) with cheapy computers.

NEC had control of PB, and then Acer bought PB (or, like, 75% of it?)... I'm a bit confused myself!

Hahahaha! My first computer EVER was a Packard Bell. It had a blazing 50mhz 386DX CPU and 340MB(!) HDD. That was 1992. Ah, nostalgia.
