Thanks.

Of course! I'm using the msiwind distro.

This is the kext modified from my s/l/e directory. To get fans working just install with kexthelper and you'll be fine.

But is this version also only for 10.5.6?
And is there anything else to do? or just this one kext?

This seems to work. Thanks a lot.
I think now everything that can work on this little machine works for me.

Can somebody explain the behavior of my fan? ...

Actually it semms to work fine. When I start the OS it is off but will start when I run some applications. But sometimes (for example after watching a film or so...) I find my Lenovo very hot, and the fan is not on. When I reboot the machine, or put it to sleep and wake up again, the fan starts...

What is this about? Some ideas?

It should be working...maybe re-install it?The only problem I can seem to find with it is after sleeping, the fan seems to either stay on or off permanently until I restart the system (depending on temps).

Ive actually had that happen with hibernate and the default xp home install, so that may actually be a bios or hardware glitch. I now run xp pro of my own and it does not seem to have that problem anymore though so I dunno.

if the fan only comes on when the system is rebooted while hot, then the thermal management kexts are not installed properly.

if you open up terminal, and type "kextstat" you can see what kexts are loaded. somewhere way back up in this thread i explain how to try to load AppleACPIThermal.kext by hand and see what the error is while its trying to load. most probably the dependencies in AppleACPIThermal.kext don't match whatever version of the other ACPI kexts you have. its a simple matter of editing the Info.plist to fix that though.
