The S netbook is NOT an Apple product and was never intended to run Mac OSX. Fortunately, enthusiasts have found ways to make OSX run on our netbook. However, the process may not be smooth for some. Make sure you have patience and time to get it to run. Most importantly, motivation to read and learn. This forum contains enough information to get OSX running. Most problems you may encounter can be solved just by reading through the forums or searching. So please take the time and read through the forums!

I managed to get Snow Leopard on my S10-3t using NBI 0.84pre (S10 Enabler will also get the install running but it fails at the same place and I thought the video was slower). For whatever reason the installer would crash when the files were installing at about 29 percent so I had to install on another machine to a separate USB drive, and then used ghost (dd will work too if the partition sizes are close) to get the data locally. So far the video is working ok, it is not accelerated but decent for light use. I was able to get sound working using the VoodooHDA 2.5.6 kexts and using Kext Helper b7. I am having trouble getting any networking up and I started a thread over at InsanelyMac (http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index. ... pic=213180) to see if anyone there had any direction. Finally the really wild part is the touch screen pretty much works out of the box. You have to use one finger as like an anchor somewhere on the screen then with the second finger it will start tracking movements and clicks. I was really shocked to see it somewhat working at all, I figure with some sort of calibration it will work great, so if someone knows of any tools for that it would be really helpful. If anyone else has any thoughts on the networking please share, with a little bit of a tweaking this could be a sweet touchscreen mac.

I finally figured out the issue I was having getting SL to install directly and when running system updates. The kernel was crashing during install with an error in the IOACPIFamily in AppleACPIBatteryManager. So I pulled the battery and the install went smoothly. I have an 8 cell battery so I am not sure if people with the 4 cell battery would see the same issue. So if you are getting crashes during install or updates pull the battery and see if that resolves the issue.

You are a Godsend Gendo. Thank you so much! So your having trouble with the wireless networking?? Ouch. That's the most important part, well second to the touch screen of course. I will check the other thread along with this one for more info. Any track pad problems? Oh and do you know if I can install a Runcore SSD HD? I have a Dell mini 9 which I hackintoshed and I want to make this Lenovo the same way. Thanks again!!

Ahamin13,

Looks like the trackpad is fine I have had no issues there.

I am still having problems with the wireless and still digging at it. I think I may try reflashing the card, I will probably end up killing it, but you never know unless you try. :)

For the SSD I think it would work, but I think the first issue you might have is the whitelist in the S10-3t's bios. I have a Crystal HD BCM70012 in my machine and just replacing the Vendor ID and Device ID of one of the 3G Modems as mentioned here http://www.netbooks.ph/forums/viewtopic.php?f=56&t=2220 did not work, I had to replace the IDs of one of the TV Cards in two places in the bios, so I wonder if the whitelist is grouped in some fashion. Either way I would think you might have to do some modification for the drive to be recognized.

Forgive me for not knowing the verbage. My concerns witht the wireless card, Card reader and the multiple OS (Fusion or Parallels with Windows XP as the Secondary). There isn't a way to swap out the wireless card like in the Dell mini 9? Sorry, I haven't actually bought one until I was sure it was possible to even get SL on there. But now that it can, I will send in the order to Best Buy.

Question about the screen rotation, does it automatically flip like an iPhone? If not, no biggie.

Is there a walk through available on how to hack the system?

Thanks Gendo!!

Ahamin13,

I would hold off a little bit on making a purchase on the s10-3t if you are looking to only run OSX on it. If you want to run Windows 7 and Ubuntu with support for networking, touchscreen, wireless etc., it makes a great choice, but the OSX support is still in its infancy of getting things running properly.
Right now in OSX from what I have seen through my experience, the video is not accelerated, the touchscreen needs some work, there is no network support at all at the moment, there is no support for the accelerometer so no screen flipping, and power management is not implemented. That is not to say these hurdles will not be overcome given time or using workarounds like swapping the internal wireless card, but right now it is a little sketchy if you want to use it as a touchscreen mac.
I have made a few installs to the machine using both the Netbook Installer 0.8.4pre http://code.google.com/p/netbook-installer/ and the S10 Enabler 1.1.13 viewtopic.php?f=33&t=3280 , both of which have documentation on how to prepare the install either on the package or on the site. If you are going to install to a mbr partitioned disk use the S10 Enabler, otherwise you currently have to modify the install image made with the NetBook Installer to see the disk you want to install to.
I will post any updates or results I have in this thread as they come.

Got it (finally) running on my ST10-3t, thanks to your help GendoIkari, much appreciated. I used the NBI, and of course being a giddy schoolgirl upgraded to 10.6.2 without researching it ... smoked it like a turkey .. rebuilt .. back to 10.6 .. will get the Voodoo Audio happening today ,as that seems fairly easy .. I am going to bypass the firmware flash, and use a micro usb wifi adapter (i still may want to use Winblows, and don't want any issues) What i would like to figure out is how to make the touchscreen "usable" .. having to touch it twice to get anywhere on the screen blows, or am I tard and didn't set something/install kexts, etc. .. either way, this bitch is sexy running Protools with an Mbox Micro .. another thing .. video .. i know that's a touchy subject .. how have you worked with the Video? ..

Hit a snag getting this to stay in 32bit mode ... grabbed a Netgear WG111 wifi adapter, as that's been one i've seen recent activity floating around ... will update any progress.

HoffGosh,
Yes NBI can not handle 10.6.2 in 64 bit mode, you need to add "arch=i386" to the kernel flags in /Extra/com.apple.Boot.plist so chameleon honors the setting.

I got wired ethernet working by modifying and hex-editing a kext. I have attached this as BCM57780Ethernet.kext.zip. After installing by using something like Kext Helper b7, the mac address will 00:00:00:00:00:00, so you will need to use ifconfig to set the mac address if you are using DHCP (ifconfig en0 lladdr XX:XX:XX:XX:XX:XX) and a good guide and set of scripts to do this automagically can be found here http://www.gizmolabs.org/~ecronin/w/Main/OSXSetMac .

I have also attached the Slice VoodooHDA 2.5.6 Kexts I am using for audio as well. Once again use Kext Helper b7 to install.
