Lenovo S10 with GPS built in!

Postby Riddler » Thu Jun 04, 2009 4:49 am

Hi,

don't know if this is really known to most of - I Just thought i'll make my post because i didn't any simple Information on this.

YES - Lenovo S10 with the 3G Card from Ericsson has got Built in GPS - and it work's like a Charm :D

In particular im talking about the 4329-A11(Austrian Version sold by Provider A1 with 5Gig HSDPA Package) and any other S10 with the Ericsson F3507g 3G Network Card.

Basicly all you have to do is get the newest Driver from the Driver Section in this Forum http://dl.getdropbox.com/u/1138738/S10%20Lenovo/Drivers/DriverFiles/XP/3G%20Driver/54gx06ww.exe

And you have to have at least ANY Sim Card inserted in the SIM-Slot to enable GPS functionallity

You can en/disable GPS in Wireless Manager <SHOW><GPS>Image
It reports as a Standard NMEA Receiver on COM-Port 6

Additionally i would suggest a little helping Program named GPSGate (google will help) - It takes the Input Signal and you can easily outpu the Signal zo any Device, Program and so on - Perfect

Just thought others than me could get excited about this Info - Now my S10 is really the eierlegendewolchmilchsau (Egg-layingWoolMilkPig)- as we like to say

It's not exactly built in to the S10 now is it? It's because you have an ExpressCard/34 device with GPS built in.
Check out PrizeRebel. It's simple. Fill out surveys to earn points. Then use the points for FREE MS Points and Live Subscription Cards. I suggested using 10MinuteMail and completing the offers that require email confirmation first. They are the easiest.

No - it is - as decribed above - built in - there is a built in 3G Card with GPS - details above - and i have a free ExpressCard/34 slot.

I really thought my description Above would be clear enough ??

Is the 3G card hard-wired to the board, or is it like the WiFi and Bluetooth cards?

Wow this is pretty expensive - I was looking for it for a Friend - and you can get it in local Stores from around €60,- (~ $80,-)

BTW - in Austria you pay €49,- for the Lenovo s10 and €20,-/Month for 24 Month for the 5Gig/Month Package - so the Lenovo with 3G/Gps built in costs you €529,- over 2 Years including 120 gig of HSD/UPA Traffic.

If you haven't already noticed, the Sim Card Slot is on the motherboard. That is absent on the S10, S9, and S10e but exists on the S10-2

If you purchased a 3G card, and you own an older S10, you would have to figure out how/where to put a SIM card (or hope that you can find a card with the SIM slot built in.

The card will work, but I'm sure wiring a SIM slot would not be an easy endeavor, at least for most people.

The 3.5g connection is ok (for internet connections) and by default the Wireless Manager are running. But when I active the gps connection, I see the window as you posted but the coordinates are not informed.... any solution please?
